Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS)
Also called PMMS, Freddie Mac mortgage rate survey.
Freddie Mac's weekly average of U.S. mortgage rates, usually released Thursdays at noon Eastern.
Since November 2022 it's been based on thousands of loan applications that lenders submit to Freddie Mac, averaged from Thursday through Wednesday. Source 1
It reports 30-year and 15-year fixed rates for a specific kind of loan: one-unit homes, a loan-to-value ratio of 75 to 80 percent, credit scores of 740 or higher, and loan amounts within the conforming limit. It no longer reports points or fees. Source 1
The 30-year series goes back to April 1971; the 15-year series was added in 1991. Source 2
