Seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR)

Also called SAAR, annual rate.

A seasonally adjusted monthly figure multiplied by 12 (a quarterly one by 4), so one month can be compared with a year.

Census reports permits, starts and completions this way. The annual rate describes activity in that month. It isn't a forecast or a projection. Source 1 Source 2
